President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has pleaded not guilty to federal tax charges. The charges stem from a four-year scheme to evade paying $1.4m to the IRS. He also faces charges in Delaware for lying on a federal form for gun purchasers and possessing a gun illegally. The plea deal that would have given him probation and avoided prosecution on the gun charge fell apart. Mr. Biden’s defense attorney accuses the special counsel of bowing to Republican pressure. U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi said he’s considering a June 20th trial date and set a fast-paced briefing schedule for the case. He didn’t set bail or pre-trial detention for Mr. Biden, but ordered him to submit to regular drug and alcohol tests, disclose international travel plans, provide future federal and state tax returns to the court, and banned him from owning a firearm, among other conditions.
