The IRS has announced an extension of filing and payment deadlines for individuals and businesses affected by the wildfires in Washington State. Taxpayers in the designated disaster area now have until June 17th to file their federal tax returns and make tax payments. The relief applies to individuals and households residing or doing business in the affected area, with Spokane County currently included. The extension covers various filing and payment deadlines from August 18th, through June 17th 2024. Penalties for failing to make payroll and excise tax deposits will be abated if the deposits were made by September 5th. Taxpayers who had an extension to file their 2022 returns also have until June 17th to file them.
